Sri Lanka has a great cuisine and there are sooo many dishes you should try. We have selected some of our favourites and also the most famous ones. Our chef will be delighted to prepare some authentic Sri Lankan food for you to enjoy!
RICE AND CURRY
Rice and Curry is definitely the national dish of Sri Lanka, eaten by most Sri lankans several times a day. It consist of rice served with a variety of side dishes commonly called curries. And not to forget the sambols and papadam to make it complete. Definitely a must try!
POL ROTI
Pol Roti is a flatbread made out of flour and shredded coconut. Eat it with the rice and curry or simply just with a good sambal.
KOTTU ROTI
This is a popular street dish that you see in every second corner. Kottu means "to chop" in Tamil and that is exactly how the dish is made. Chopped roti, vegetables, eggs and an optional chicken or fish made directly on a big stir pan.
STRING HOPPERS
String hopper is a Sri Lankan specialty made out of rice flour and then pressed to form thin noodles. It is a typical part of a fantastic Sri Lankan breakfast. To eat them you smoosh them with your fingers into curry and sambal, enjoy!
